Let me first apologize for not posting any reviews for quite a while. Tsk tsk on me. My favorite was Town and Country. I practically died laughing when I read that story.

There are many hilarious stories with some valuable life lessons… like when Mr. Sedaris quit smoking. That’s a pretty tough thing to do. Actually, after reading that story, I thought, “Aha! That’s where the title came from.” You can think that too, but you’d be wrong. The story that mentions the title of this book does take place while Mr. Sedaris is in the middle of breaking his habit, but has nothing to do with smoking itself. I would tell you, but I think you should just read the book.

If you do end up reading When you are Engulfed in Flames, let me know what you think!

This book isn’t my usual. I’m normally a fiction girl, but when the author – RJ Toftness – asked me to review it, I couldn’t refuse. Why? Because I’m terrible at math. I haven’t liked math since I was a little kid, like 9 years old. Then later because I had a cute math teacher for a couple of months.

Anyway, this book was really awesome. It breaks math down to the basics, like the core definitions, parts, etc. I loved that it made everything so simple. I wish I had this in school!

I really understood how important the basics of any subject are when you are trying to learn. If you don’t know the basics, everything seems complicated and confusing. RJ Toftness does a good job of breaking things down.

So, if you have math trouble like me (some of you do – I know it), check out Unlock The Mystery To Math.

Comments: It’s a month of firsts! I rarely read nonfiction, and if I do it’s always about something I’m actually studying for a reason. Never have I read an entire book of nonfiction for no reason but to read it. I’m glad that out of all the nonfiction books I could have read, I chose Stiff.

Mary Roach is pure genius. She breaths new life into the macabre and often dry subject of cadavers (pun intended). I’ve never been interested in dead bodies beyond murder mysteries and CSI, but now I’m blurting out facts at inopportune moments constantly. Thanks Mary! LOL

Seriously though, Stiff is the book of facts about cadavers you never knew you wanted to know. I highly recommend it.

If you want to buy Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers, why not buy it on Amazon through my blog? I don’t get paid for reviewing books, so help me by buying books from my site – once you’ve read them I’d love to know what you think!
