Comments:

First of all, Scott Sigler is, in my opinion, the best new author to enter the horror genre to date. Don’t get me wrong, I love Stephen King, but there’s just something about Sigler’s mixture of hard science and pure, gross, blood and guts horror that just does it for me. (Now I sound like I’m slightly mental. Oh well.)

Contagiousis an anomaly when it comes to books for me. Usually I would hate how this book ended. I’d be pissed off at the author and would be inwardly seething until someone asked me about the book – which would create a volcanic reaction spewing all over that poor person. However, curiously, I LOVED this book. I think everything that happened could not have been written differently and I think Scott really nailed every character, made you really love and/or hate them. In fact, I liked all the characters – some of which I hated at the same time.

I’m going to calm down and do a real review now.

Okay, so Contagiousis the sequel to Sigler’s previous work, Infected. Contagious still features Perry Dawsey, a huge ex-football player who is mad as hell at the triangles which infected him. He’s now working for the government and helping them find triangle hosts. But, the perpetrator of the disease (and orbital named Chauncey) has other ideas. It brings out a new strain of the disease which is contagious.

Now Perry, ex CIA agent Dew Phillips and CDC doctor Margaret Montoya have to stay a step ahead of the triangles before they do what they were created to do – cause earth-wide chaos and destruction.

If you haven’t yet gotten onto the Sigler fan train and want something more toned down horror-wise, his book The Rookie (only available for purchase on his website) is a fantastic entry point into the Sigler-verse. Also, if you are a fan of Sigler, The Rookie ties in with Infected and Contagious.
